Bullet Journaling

I have mentioned Bullet Journaling a couple times here on the blog lately. It is the trending thing for planners & journaling. I am just starting to dip my toe into the world of BuJo (can’t really use the other shortcut – it will lead all the pervies to my site **wink**).

If you are not familiar with BuJo, here is the intro from the originator:

BUT…it is so much more than that! I have been keeping a planner for YEARS but have never found one that worked for me. I have found many of parts that worked though. I would think if I could take parts from this one and that one I would have the perfect planner. With Bullet Journaling that is exactly what I can do.

Let me say one thing from the right here… I have NO ARTISTIC ABILITY. I do have an uncanny love of markers, colored pens, and pencils! Seriously, it’s a problem. Just look:

The items in the black containers (and the highlighters) I previously owned but in honor of BuJo I decided I needed new and purchased the Frixion Markers (yep, even the markers are heat sensitive and therefore erasable) and the Staedtler Triplus Fineliners (they are amazing at only .3 mm).

I also purchased the highly recommended Leuchtturm 1917 – most recommend the dotted grid but I went for the graphed in case I wanted to draw out a quilt or a quilt block. Not only that but I am a bit of a freak about straight lines. Oh and I splurged and bought this stencil set but it hasn’t arrived yet.

I will share some pages when I have them completed but for now here is a short list of some things I plan to track:

  • Shopping List
  • Birthdays
  • Migraine Days (meds taken, triggers, pain range, water intake, weather)
  • Blog Post (social media, followers, etc)
  • Books to Read and Have Read
  • Travel
  • Monthly Pages (to do, appointment, weather, etc)

You get the idea! The good thing is that I can make the layout just what I want it to be. The one I am most excited about is the migraine tracker. Honestly, after I finish my monthly layout I will probably start there.

I have pinned many things #BuJo – check them out here if you are curious. I will share more as mine progresses.

What I’m Watching

Recently The Hubster and I decided to do away with cable and go with a couple Roku. With that, we use Netflix, Hulu and of course, The Hubster has to have CBS AllAccess for his news & sports. It wasn’t just a money decision, it was more about our local cable just not offering very much.

With that being said, I now do a great deal of binge-watching. I watch full seasons instead of one episode at a time – except on Hulu which I really can only use for a select few shows. I have found some really great shows, I thought I would share….

WARNING: Content & Language

This is one of the funniest shows I have watched in a long time. I knew Lily Tomlin was funny but I had no idea Jane Fonda was so good. I have really enjoyed this show. I haven’t watched all the episodes because I keep them for days when I need to laugh.

Here’s a little fact about me: I’m slightly infatuated with AllThingsBritish. I watch Peppa Pig with my granddaughter simply because I ADORE the accents of the characters. Siri is a British man on my phone. This is only one reason I loved this series. I felt like I was peeking behind the curtain. I kept looking up facts to see if they were true (I am rubbish at history & government). The series was told in a way that made it feel more “contemporary fiction with a sub-genre of family life” (and I’ve already told you how much I love that).

I’ve recently started watching this show but the jury is still out. I am watching because it reminds me of Parenthood – one of my all-time favorite shows.

And guess who’s back…

I don’t think I need to say anything at all about this show….it completely speaks for itself!

That is all I will share for now…

I think I need to do a Top 5 of all times shows! What do think? Is that something you would be interested in? Top 5 or Top 10? Also, do you like having the trailers here or just links?

I Love to Read

One of my favorite podcasts is What Should I Read Next. While it is a joy to listen to, it is a hazard for my TBR [To Be Read] list. I have found so many great books from listening to Anne (the host).

Recently Anne came out with her 2018 Reading Challenge. I really enjoyed how the 2017 Reading Challenge forced me to read outside my normal range so I am definitely participating again.

In addition, I have set a lofty goal via Goodreads – 125 books this year. I told you it was lofty.

Here is what I have read so far:

When I first saw this in the stores I wasn’t sure. Then I looked at the reviews and people were raving about how good it was – they were right! It was so good!!! Not only was it funny, which you would expect from Kevin Hart but it was also inspiring! Good book!

I decided to listen to this book (I read it years ago as a small girl) because it was read by the author EB White. He did an amazing job! I really enjoyed this book so much more as an adult. I am learning that I really enjoy YA more than I thought I would – another suggestion from the WSiRN podcast.

This book is from one of my favorite genres – contemporary fiction with a sub-genre of everyday family life. I might be weird but I love reading about families as messed up as mine. I really wish I knew an author that could write about my messed up clan (boy that would be a page-turner).

This was a slow-starter for me. I really want to see the movie but as per the norm for me- needed to read the book first. I’m glad I pushed through the beginning because it did get better. Now to find the movie…

Those are in my Virtual Finished Pile (I rarely buy a physical book anymore). Now onto what I am currently reading:

I have no guilt about stopping a book that simply doesn’t work for me, so don’t be surprised if one or more of these don’t make it to the Virtual Finished Pile. I’ll report again soon.
